Picks for June 2

Chicago Cubs at Atlanta Braves Pick: Cubs

Atlanta's starting pitcher Kawakami has struggled and the Cubs are countering with Wells who has had some strong outings but not too many wins do to a lack of run support. Take the Cubs for the supposed upset.

Texas Rangers at New York Yankees Pick: Yankees

The Yankees are swinging the bat well right now and AJ Burnett shut out these same Texas Rangers over 6 innings last week in their own ballpark. Josh Hamilton is questionable for this game as well. Take the red hot Yankees.

Boston Red Sox at Detroit Tigers Pick: Tigers

Rick Porcello has been even stronger on the mound for the Tigers as of late. Meanwhile Matsuzaka has pitched poorly since being activated from the DL. Add to that the general level of play of these clubs on the road and at home and the Tigers are the easy pick here.

San Fransisco Giants at Washington Nationals Pick: Giants

Tim Lincecum. Nationals. Enough said.

Los Angeles Angels at Toronto Blue Jays Pick: Jays

As well as Saunders has pitched for the Angels there are too many holes in the lineup to expect a win against Roy Halladay who has been stellar this entire season. Look for the Jays to make a renewed push to reach the top of the AL East with their ace on the mound tonight.

New York Mets at Pittsburgh Pirates Pick: Mets

Zach Duke has pitched extremely well for the Pirates. That having been said, Santana has been otherwordly to this point and should get the win here having a superior lineup to back him up. The Mets hit Duke fairly well last season. Take the Mets here.

Kansas City Royals at Tampa Bay Rays Pick: Rays

Both starters have struggled lately but the Rays come in with one of the best offenses in baseball. Given that, it shouldn't be too difficult for the Rays to continue the Royals' slump.

Milwaukee Brewers at Florida Marlins Pick: Brewers

A tough call here with two struggling pitchers. Parra had a decent outing his last time while Sanchez is just being activated from the DL and won't be throwing past 80 pitches. Sanchez being the unknown in this situation I have to take the Brewers to end their recent road woes against a Marlins team that has struggled mightily after a hot start.

Cleveland Indians at Minnesota Twins Pick: Twins

The Indians are coming off a tough series and though the Twins are banged up Kevin Slowey has pitched well this season and limited the Indians to one run in his previous appearance against them. The Twins also a significantly better home record than road record.

Colorado Rockies at Houston Astros Pick: Rockies

Ubaldo Jimenez has been a better pitcher as of late and the Rockies have been hitting quite a few line drives, unfortunately right at fielders. Expect them to break out of their recent offensive funk against Paulino.

Oakland Athletics at Chicago White Sox Pick: White Sox

The White Sox are surging and the A's are offensively challenged. Expect Bartolo Colon to use that extra day of rest to turn in a quality outing. The A's callup will give up a few and it will be enough for the win.

Cincinnati Reds at St. Louis Cardinals Pick: Reds

Bronson Arroyo has been dominant in his last two starts and expect him to hold down the Cards lineup as the Reds go to work on Thompson, who is making his first start of the year. Pujols may not be at his beset after twisting his ankle on a double yesterday.

Baltimore Orioles at Seattle Mariners Pick: Mariners

Hernandez turned in a nice debut for the Orioles his last time out but Erik Bedard is pitching extremely well. This one could be another pitcher's duel much like last night but I expect the Mariners to edge the Orioles out.

Philadelphia Phillies at San Diego Padres Pick: Padres

Jake Peavy gets the call against the Phillies as they debut a rookie to replace Brett Myers. Peavy has been excellent over his three start win streak and his right ankle will not be as much of an issue this time out. Expect the Padres to beat the Phillies tonight.

Arizona Diamonbacks at Los Angeles Dodgers Pick: Diamondbacks

Take Arizona tonight as Dan Haren will only need minimal run support while holding down a Dodger offense that has slumped lately. Haren has given up 2 or less runs in 7 of his 10 starts this year. He has been consistently dominant and expect that to continue tonight.

Picks for June 1

Yankees- Indians pick: Yankees
Though Joba has had some trouble pitching deep into games the Yankees offense is hot and Slowey has typically had problems with the Yankees lineup and Aceves is ready to step in for relief.

Mets-Pirates pick: Mets
Hernandez had a 2.70 ERA in May and though Ian Snell has not been too bad the Mets will come away with this one.

Athletics-White Sox pick: White Sox
The White Sox are returning home after a successful road trip with a resurgent Bartolo Colon. Cahill has lost his last three starts and the A's have struggled to score.

Orioles-Mariners pick: Mariners
Washburn has had some problems lately and Rich Hill got lit up against the Jays. With the Orioles young and talented lineup this game to be a tossup.

Brewers-Marlins pick: Marlins
Suppan has been struggling his last couple of outings and Andrew Miller has had some good ones.

Rockies-Astros pick: Rockies
Another tough call as Oswalt has traditionally had success against the Rockies but has struggled lately.

Reds-Cardinals pick: Cardinals
Volquez is coming off an injury and has his worst outing against the Cardinals, who have quite an impressive home record. Go with the Cards here.

Phillies-Padres pick: Phillies
Blanton and Correia are two starters trending in opposite directions with Blanton turning in a gem and Correia getting roughed up. This match pits a team with a great road record against one with a great home record. Take the Phillies here though based on Blanton's recent turnaround.

Diamondbacks-Dodgers pick: Dodgers
Kuroda is coming off an injury and Buckner had one bad outing so the ERA differential is misleading. What isn't misleading is the vast disparity in the quality of the two offenses.
